CIES International Food Safety Conference

Creating value from food risk management
13 - 15 February 2008
Amsterdam, The Netherlands

583 Food Safety Executives from 45 countries came together in Amsterdam to discuss their top-of-mind issues on the food Safety.

The delegates looked at exploring the risk management landscape, learned how to create value and manage risk in future.

Different Parallel Sessions explored the specific challenges faced by all stakeholders in the following areas :

- Food Safety in Retail Outlets - How Risk Management Adds Value
- Food Safety Standards - Creating Value
- Food Quality – Are there limits to your responsibility? Going beyond liability to add brand value
- Traceability: The consumer quest for information has never been more pressing. How does the industry deliver transparency?



Round Table Discussions permitted delegates to exchange ideas and discuss the following themes :

- Global Sourcing
- Auditor Competence
- Food Defence: Bioterrorism
- Risk Management

Delegates were also on the shop floor with visits to Hoogvliet, Albert Heijn and Jumbo stores with the Food Safety experts from these companies.

Building Confidence in Food Safety

The 2007 CIES International Food Safety Conference is a unique annual event which attracted more than 500 food business executives and food safety experts from 43countries.

The conference focused on building confidence in food safety throughout the supply chain.
The programme examined how through a collaborative effort and enhanced transparency between all stakeholders food safety scares and risks could be reduced, better quality products could be provided for consumers and how trust could be built throughout the supply chain.




Different Breakout sessions explored the specific challenges faced by all stakeholders in the following areas

- Food Safety in Retail Outlets
- Auditing & Standards
- Crisis and Risk Management
- Food Safety & IT

Round Table Discussions permitted delegates to exchange ideas and discuss the following themes :

- Consumer Education
- Nutrition and Obesity
- Transport & Logistics
- Auditor Competence
- Food Legislation & Regulations
- Standards for Small Suppliers

Optional store visits looked at how METRO, HIT VISION and TENGELMANN manage food safety and delegates also had the opportunity to visit the Develey factory in Munich.

CIES International Food Safety Conference

Enhancing transparency from farm to fork

The 2006 CIES International Food Safety Conference is a unique annual event which attracted more than 485 food business executives and food safety experts from 41 countries.

This two-day conference focused on enhancing transparency in the food chain. Through a collaborative effort between all stakeholders, the food sector can work towards decreasing food safety scares and risks, provide better quality products for consumers and enhance transparency between all the links in the food supply chain.




The event provided delegates with an opportunity to :

  • learn how retailers and suppliers manage food safety issues
  • exchange knowledge and best practices on food safety
  • network with food safety experts from around the world
  • discover the latest developments in the Global Food Safety Initiative  
  • debate on closely-related issues

Different Breakout sessions explored the specific challenges faced by all stakeholders in the following areas :

Optional store visits looked at how Carrefour, Auchan and Casino manage food safety and delegates also had the opportunity to visit the Silliker laboratory in the Paris suburbs.

CIES International Food Safety Conference

Managing the Food Safety Cycle
3 - 4 February 2005
Rome, Italy

The 2005 Conference attracted more than 390 participants from 35 countries.

This two-day conference aimed to provide food business executives and specialists with a unique opportunity to discover and debate the real issues surrounding food safety and the GFSI, and also to network informally with their peers.

The plenary sessions offered the opportunity to :

          • Learn more about the Global Food Safety Initiative
          • Understand how leading retailers and suppliers deal with food safety issues
          • Improve understanding of consumer perceptions on food safety

     

In addition, different breakout sessions were used to exploreand examine major food safety issues or challenges facing the food business.
